Maternal warmth can reduce emotional and behavioural problems in children
High maternal love has been found to reduce rates of emotional and behavioural problems in children compared to lower maternal warmth. This has been particularly relevant to bullying literature. Bullied children have higher rates of emotional and behavioural problems. The role of maternal warmth alleviates the emotional and more importantly the behavioural problems of bullied children. This suggests that maternal warmth can act as a protective factor for children who are bullied.
